Last Sunday, I suddenly woke up and it was 6:16 in the morning. "How strange ..." -I thought-, "I always get up like at 11:00 and tired..."
Entonces me decidí a salir. Me vestí y tomé mi cámara. Salí a las 7:00 a.m. rumbo a “Malacatán”.
So, I decided to go out. I got dressed and I took my camera. I got out at 7:00 a.m. to “Malacatán”.
"Malacatán" es un pueblo perteneciente a Guatemala. Prácticamente, hice un viaje al extranjero…
“Malacatán” is a small town from Guatemala. Practically, I travelled to a foreign country...
First, I took a bus to Cacahoatán (Chiapas, México), and from there I took another to Talismán (Mexican frontier with Guatemala)
When I was there, I wondered: “And now… ¿What?”. Asking for information without concern or embarrassment finally I could obtain necesary information to walk with no problems in the neighbor country, in the south east.
2.- Important! Changing Mexican money (Pesos) to Money from Guatemala (Quetzales). On this occasion, I bought the Quetzal to $1.65 MX and (when I returned to Mexico) I sold it in $ 1.50 MX.
3 .- Then, as you have Quetzales, you are going to stop to the migration of Guatemala (for this, of course, you've crossed the border jejeje) and you have show your permit in order to be stamped, they ask you how long you are going to travel and where, and I think that depending on that information you will pay a charge. As I was going to "Malacatán" I charged 5.00 Q. These 3 simple steps and you can travel without any concern (of course, if you're a paranoid guy who likes to compli (or not) the rules like me :P).
Then I tackled a transport route to Malacatán, fare: 4Q. Most of the time I walked through the city, I committed myself to walk the streets without a precise direction and appreciate the similarity is with some aspect of Comitan and San Cristobal, Chiapas. Not occurred to me before researching sights of interest, I spent my time walking from one side to another, seeing certain things.
Some photos and comments of this brief travel:
When you're exactly on the border, this is what you se:
And behind you, is the river Suchiate...(Left: México, Right: Guatemala)
These persons change your money when you go from a country to the other:
This is money from Guatemala: 1, 5, 10 y 20 Quetzales:
So this is how look some streets from Malacatán:
They prefer to drink Pepsi Cola to drink Coca Cola:
Ellos aún conservan autobuses coloridos:
They still conservate and use "very colored" buses:
Hay paisajes muy claros y muy verdes:
Landscapes are very clear and very green:
Hay edificios muy bonitos:
There are beautiful buildings:
Most of people don't use taxis, they prefer "moto cars":
Bonito lugar, espero regresar y tener más tiempo y mejor información...
Nice place, I hope to go again, but having more time a better information...
